Community Health Investment Program (CHIP)

The Community Health Investment Program (CHIP) provides grants to organizations that, like the hospital, are working to improve the health of the people in north central Kansas.

Salina Regional Health Center established the program in 1995, and it continues to provide the primary funding. The Salina Regional Health Foundation manages the program.

To date, more than $13 million has been awarded in CHIP grants since the program was first established. Grant recipients have included Martin Luther King, Jr. Child Development Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Salina, Ottawa County Health Planning Commission, Teen Town (The City), Lindsborg Community Hospital, and others.

Funding Priorities
CHIP grants may be awarded to healthcare programs/projects proposed by eligible organizations that address the following priorities:

• Children’s Health (prenatal to 18 years)
• Depression/Mental Health
• Aging Population
• Child Obesity
• Drug Overdose and Substance Abuse
• Heart Disease Related Indicators
• Stroke

Policies

Applicants are limited to one CHIP application per 12-month period (excluding Good Neighbor Fund grants), from the date their organization’s previous application was considered, by the CHIP Committee.

Applications for multi-year funding will not be accepted.
